Buying clay is not yet a vessel

You read about types of clay, glazes, firing temperatures, tools, and techniques. You search for beautiful examples and debate whether a potter's wheel is necessary. The idea of your own ceramic piece becomes clearer and clearer, but the clay remains in its packaging.

Theory is controllable. It provides a sense of professionalism without the risk of creating something crooked. You can occupy yourself with the ideal model without having to feel the imprecision of your own hands.

Shaping with your hands. Pottery is imprecise, physical, and often lopsided at the beginning. This is precisely why it is so easily replaced by preparation.

Shape a simple thumb pot. It is allowed to be uneven. The decisive factor is not whether it turns out beautiful, but whether anything is created from the clay at all.
